Recent ImagineFX Book Review - Issue # 47

Upon arriving home from the Toronto Fan Expo, I was just told my book was reviewed by a fantastic magazine on digital painting for Fantasy and Sci-Fi Digital Art. It really is my favorite magazine and even though the review is small, I'm honored to be amongst such a great publication.

- And as for more finalized rendered sketches, The Art and Feel of Making It Real: Volume 02 will have plenty to satisfy you. It has no official due date and will be out only "in the future," but I have already started working on it.

All my best,

MAC

DUDE! How's it going?! Talk about a weird case of synchronicity... I just got my subscription copy of ImageFX in the mail... I put down your book to flip through it and voilĂ ... there you are again! Creeeepy...

Not sure what the person that reviewed it was talking about... I thought the word "gesture" implied a quick drawing to capture movement without the burden of details... (a.k.a. "finished")

Whatever! LOL!

Thanks guys.

Justin,
Good to hear my man! It's really important and I will make sure I give you some extra attention. It'll be good to do some different kinda doodlin'

Shane,
My Canadian brutha! It really was a pleasure sitting next to you my man. Pretty cool, it's really a magazine that I personally enjoy. And yes, I would feel it's about the idea and the rendering is something else entirely. I think if many of the pieces I see were more focused on the gesture in the beginning it might feel as though it has more life, but I couldn't have been more happy to be included in their amazing magazine.

Best,

MAC

Dang man!! When I saw your drawings at Daphnes, I knew I had seen that line before. Sure enough, your book is beautiful man. Putting that much life into drawings is really unique. I've been trying to figure out myself what Frazetta and John Buscema were doing to make their figures look so alive and natural. Nice to meet someone close by to draw with that has those qualities.

Cheers man!!
